MS Photo Editor and Office 2007
Dear All hi!
I've got some problem with MS Photo Editor after I installed Office 2007 Enterprise on my WinXP SP2 system: I know Office 2007 replaces photo editor but according to Microsoft it can be installed again from the XP disc opting only for the editor during installation under custom install. Well I did that and I get the following error (translating into English): "Error 1402. It's not possible to open registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\giffile\shell\Open\ddeexec by the installation program. Make sure you have enough access rights to the registry or contact the support services etc. etc." By the way I am the sole user of the computer and I always log in with a password as administrator.
Do you have any clue? I'll be deeply obliged.
Anticipated thanks.

I use MS Phot Editor from an old version of Office and like the program a lot.
I found this info on Microsoft knowlege base, maybe it will help. I believe when they indicate Insert they mean the "old" Office disk and not the 2007 version.

WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, reinstall Photo Editor. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Insert the Microsoft Office XP CD-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
2. If the Office XP Setup program does not start automatically, follow these steps: a. Click Start, and then click Run.
b. In the Open box, type drive:\Setup.exe, where drive is the letter of your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.

3. Start to step through the Setup process, and then select Customize for the type of Setup to perform.
4. When you reach the Selecting Features step, set each node of the Setup tree to Not Available.
5. Under Features to install, expand Office Tools.
6. Click Microsoft Photo Editor, and then click Run from My Computer.
7. Click Install Now.
8. Click OK when Office XP Setup has completed successfully.
