Help with removing background
I'm making avatars for a call of duty 2 clan and I've got them sorted except for they all have a white outline around them, like this.

How do you remove that white outline and only have the image of the badge.

Thanks in advance for help.

P.S - I'm using Photoshop 5.5

Not sure about Photoshop 5.5 as haven't used it....but for Photoshop 7 and CS2 open it up in Photoshop and drag it to make a copy...then select Magic wand and select the White you don't want.....once the busy ants are done click on Select and choose Inverse then click Edit and copy

Click on Create a new layer which should look checkered black and white.

then click paste and you should just have the shield without the white

They are pretty simple pictures so a very easy alternative to use would be irfanview. All you have to do is open the file in irfanview. Then select saveas, gif. You then have an option to save transparent colour which you select. Then press save. A window will open of your picture, click on the white area and there you have it. Job done.

I have recently been playing around and have created a website for my students. If you have a little time I would greatly appreciate it if you could take a look and let me know what you think and give me some ideas.
