Red face 8mm video
I have an old Hitachi video camera that I would like to take the videos from the 8mm tapes to a disc... I have bought a program with adapter ADS tech, video xpress CD, Ver. 2.1 that will play the video on my monitor, but I can't seem to extract it. I want to put all these old movies on a disc, but it is looking like that I need another program convert it into a file that can burned. Should I be looking at a different program all together? It seems as though it will take movies from your camera but not an old cam corder...
Any suggestions are very welcome. I understand basic technology, but by no means am I well versed.
Thanks in advance.

I had an ADStech DVD Express and it had a built in hardware mpeg encoder. I t came bundled with Ulead's DVD MovieFactory and VideoStudio software. So basically I would hook my analog video camera to it and encode to mpeg2 on my hard drive then author to dvd using the bundled software.

It should be done while your cameras still work. The rubber pieces in the tape transport dry up, belts get old, and they may not play tapes if you pull them out after 8 years w/o use.
