Solved: Is this a good memory card to buy for my digital camera?
I have a Canon Powershot A570IS. I am a big ebay shopper....I saw some digital camera memory cards there that are 2GB but they are cheap...about 10 bucks altogether, made by Sandisk. I remember paying 30 bucks a couple of years ago just for a small 64 mb Lexar card. Has the price come down that much or are the ones i'm looking at junk? The seller has a 99.8 rating, with almost 28,000 sales so their customers seem happy enough with their purchases. I just dont know if I should buy it there or go to office max instead.

Here is the listing..if anyone thinks this is a decent card then let me know, please: http://cgi.ebay.com/2GB-Sandisk-SD-S...QQcmdZViewItem

Thank you.

Thank you, Guy. I'm glad its a good brand. It seems so cheap..I thought it might be too good to be true. We shall see, though!

I don't think it is a decent card, but what do I know. I buy camera batteries for 99 cents off ebay and no explosions yet.

You're right mrss it's just a cheap Sandisk and slow. however I'd be concerned at the postage cost !!! I've seen 1gb cards for less than that.

A UK ebayer, shipping (they say) from the USA ....as if !

It's not in Sandisk retail packaging either. Unless they removed it for selling purposes.
New Sandisk cards come in a small plastic case much thinner than the one shown and then packaged in a blister pack.

Go to your nearest discount store and buy it there for probably less.

if it looks to good to be true it probably is

It will be just fine for her camera and what she will use it for.

Probably is the key word. Then add in fuel, wear on the vehicle, time bla, bla, bla.

$2.95 + $6.99( s&h ) = less than 10 bucks. It isn't a bank buster.

There are lots of fake cards on eBay. Many of them are very slow and not of full advertised capacity. So beware that you may not be getting the bargain that you think you are. Sandisk are the most widely counterfeited of all the memory cards.

well we shall see! I bought it the other day. I will update this thread and let you know if it works for what I want. I have a 64mb card in my camera right now. Thats good enough for the pictures I take but its not big enough to store video clips on that last longer than a minute or so so I hoped to have a bigger card to hold a longer video clip. For 10 bucks, its worth a try.

also..I think the picture of the item was just a stock photo from the seller. They sell lots of them and use the same picture. They have a good rating for being a power seller. I read through the feedback and most people are very happy with the items they buy so i am optimistic.

just to update...I got the card yesterday. It's perfect! My camera will now take 9,999 pictures on the lowest setting. I cant wait to see how long of a video I can take now!

The only thing that was strange about the auction was that the guy lied about where the card shipped from. He said the item location was in the USA but it shipped from hong kong! But for 10 bucks...who cares? Its all that I wanted. Although, I probably wouldnt have bought it if i'd known it was coming from hong kong. I suspect thats why he lied about it., Too bad he felt that he had to do that to get more business....but a great deal just the same.
