Size Matters
Help! I have pictures of my beautiful handmade jewellry which I want to post and sell on the web. However, the pictures are too big for the website I have chosen and require that pics are no larger than 300kb. Mine are over 1,000 kb.
Is it posible to reduce the size? How can take new pics & ensure the kb is less?

Thanks

Hi there,

You can use a program like Paint.net to cut down the resoulution of the picture. This will also cut down the size of the picture. Bit of trial and error but should not be a big problem. Let me know if you need further help

Irfanview is even easier for resizing.

*note* Don't reduce the dpi below 72.

You can halve it, halve it again or select the actual size you need.

Then "save as" a jpg using 80% quality will give you the size you want but at a good quality too.

I think the issue is she needs to increase the JPEG compression.
Its file size, not image size (pixel dimensions), right?

Several options exist.

LView pro, ACDSee, and Irfanview.

Irfanview is free; the others are not.

I think, with the latest version of Irfanview, you can
choose the compression when saving to jpeg.

I'm not sure, because I use ACDSee and Photoshop.
