Problem with Microsoft Photo Story 3.1
I have used this program to create a Video CD Slideshow in the past. Today when I went to create the VCD I got a message saying that Photo Story can't create a VCD b"because another program is using the recording drive or the drive is not quite ready" there are no other programs using the drive. Any Suggestions???

I don't know about being not quite ready but another program using it can mean just a module of some other program is active and being read as using the drive. For instance I have DMA Scheduler in my task manager and as long as that is running (I'm still not sure what program it is associated with) all other programs that try to access the drive will give me a "in use" error. Also some programs are so sensitive (hasn't been my experience with Photostory) that just having an explorer window open on that drive causes a locked out or in use error.

You can try rebooting and see if that frees up the drive or if its something that loads on start up it could be something in your task manager or a service that's locking you out. If this error doesn't go away after reboot and its totally out of the blue, i.e., you have no other recording drive software on the system that could possibly be getting in the way or you haven't used anything else that accessed the drive in a non-reboot part of the cycle then there could be some other unintentional corruption and I'd consider running system restore.
