His Real Age
I want to scan in my brother's birth certificate and change it to say he was born in 1853, that he is female and of unknown origin and species. What si the best program to use to do that. I have the scanner and paintshop pro for photos, but it will not do what I need. His birth certificate also has many designs on it so I will need to be able to reconstruct the designs over the changes in the wording. He is going to give his certificate to a golf club to qualify for a torment, and I want make sure he gets in the way, way old bracket.

Thanks for any advise you can give me.

I think altering a birth certificate could be a bit of a grey area around here.

You gotta be kidding!!! Changing a birth certificate to show a guy is 153 years old, a women and of unkowin origin, that he is going to give to a golf club to qualify for a stupid tournment, assuming he dosen't notice the changes before he gives it to the club, is a problem? Hell you have a problem!!!

Hey, thanks. I have been told corel draw also. I don't know anything about either of them. Will photoshop let me change the dates and sex without screwing up the graphics on the certificate so it is too noticable?

Thanks again

Hmm, what if he wins $150 and gets disqualified after they find out he's a 150 year old woman?

Most photo packs have a stamp tool. If you find some other part of the photo that is similar, clone it over the text. Then add new text.

Not responsible if he swings a 7 iron onto your butt.

I think the prize is about $2000. However, he has a better chance of convincing them he is a 153 year-old woman than winning. Nonetheless, your disclaimer is duly noted.

Thanks again

it is illegal to change a birth certificate with out a court order. that would be falsifying a legal document. if you dont believe me ask a lawyer

Rude responses like that are are not necessary or appreciated, I was not rude to you, just pointing out that altering a birth certificate could be a bit of a grey area.

If you want good help around here you might like to think about how you respond in future.

xgerryx is correct.

Currently it's a class A misdemeanor, but bills have passed to upgrade that to increase the penalty to a Class D felony, which is punishable with six months to three years in jail and a $10,000 fine.

Even when done "for a bit of fun" ...

Can't you in-house lawyers tell the OP is trying to play a joke on someone. Sheesh....

Any photo editing program will be able to handle what you want providing you know how to use it. From the sound of it you'll be in for a chore due to all the graphics.

Sevenko I wouldn't suggest altering his birth certificate. Even though it's only for novelty use, it is still a crime to alter legal documents without proper authorization.

And Guyzer, it doesn't matter that it's a joke, it's still illegal.

Also, I'd be surprised if your scanner could even scan it properly. A lot of legal documents (IE. SS cards, licenses, permits, birth certificates, money, etc.) have some sort of security thing to circumvent altering which most scanners can read and if they do read it, it will distort it or refuse to scan the entire thing.

It might be illegal where you live but you don't know for a fact that it is where he hangs his hat because he hasn't provided that info. That said... it's still a joke and will be accepted as such by whoever views it. You Yanks gotta start taking life a little less serious.
