Looking for a free photo sharing program
A friend wants to upload some of his pictures and then have others be able to view them or download them.

I found Picasa and Picasa Web Albums. Is it any good? Can others download pictures from Picasa and Picasa Web Albums?

Is there a better program?

I like Picasa. Lots of free storage, private and public albums, easy to use and free.

Flikr and Pbase are a couple of others. If you/he have a host then look at something like Coppermine, 4Images or Gallery2

Picasa or Irfanview coupled with Picasa Web Albums or Flickr will work fine.

I made a web album using picasa. I like it but it appears that when it is public others can go in there and add and delete pictures. I emailed it to myself and it appears that way. am i missing something. I don't want to go to the effort and have somebody delete the pictures on me

Another option is using photo upload sites like Photobucket. Their site is www.photobucket.com.

only problem with photobucket is it takes forever to load pics

i ended up exporting the album i made in picasa back to a folder on my PC and then started a bulk load into Photobucket. says it should load in 17 seconds. well it has been almost half an hour and not even 40% is loaded. and i am on cable and not dial up. says dial up should take 6 minutes. what a laugh. the folder has 117 pics
