Removing Date From Photo
Hi Photo and Imaging Experts

I have some photos a friend took on their digital camera (SD chip) and they all have the date stamped in the lower right hand corner (HUGE print, I might add) and I would like to know if there is a way to remove the date? There is one in particular I would like to use as a screen saver, and having the date (not to mention, it's the wrong date) in the lower corner is an eye sore.

If it is a JPEG file, there is no way to unhide the original picture pixels that are obscured by the colored pixels that make up the image of the date. Depending on what is in the area behind the date, it may be possible to fake the covered up pixels. There are tools in PhotoShop or other photo editing software that let you copy or clone one area of a picture over another area.

Any chance you can post the original file here or give us a link to another server where we can access the original full size photo?

Thanks for that info Chuck. Yeah, it's probably pretty easy to clean up in Photoshop, as in the corner it's a very dark area. Of course, I wouldn't know how to do it

I was just thinking it might be something easy, like putting it back on the chip and selecting a camera setting

Wishful thinking huh?

Probably. Changing a camera setting would prevent adding a visible date to future photos that are taken but I don't think the settings would do much for existing photos that have the date showing.

TSG has a few regulars that, given the chance, may be able to clean up that one picture you want to use as a screen saver or wallpaper background.

Yes, I know a lot of the regulars here have extreme talent at doing that. I'd rather wait to call upon them when it's a bigger issue

Thanks again, if anyone else has anything magical, feel free to post it

Maybe I'll test that date theory by snapping some new pictures

That is one thing that is nice but it needs to be turned off for reason you posted. The same info is in the Exif info on the pictures.

You can even change that date.

Darn there was some program too that I can think of that would do things like this.
Did find Image Mender but it is not free. It is Shareware so may work still.

It is freeware too.

But what you want Candy can be easy or hard because of what is right behind and around the date.

Send it to me via e-mail, full size, and I'll do my best to zap the date out and clean it up for you. Shouldn't take but a few minutes unless it's got lots of crap in the way.

There was some new member that posted a bunch of identical "Sorry, I can not help you messages" in different threads the last few days. They also had link to pinnaclesys.com as their sig line.

Guyzer, I might take you up on that. This is a pretty picture and it does make a nice background

Since I don't see the spammer anymore ...
Can I assume it's not real intelligent to spam an Administrator ??

If I can help remove the dates .. Just holler
