Solved: Import *.jpg to *.gif
I want to import a jpg to a gif.
It's a ribbon (in jpg format) and I want to place it in front of a rotating globe (in gif format).

Can it be done?

you'll need to change the ribbon to .gif then in any animation program
open the globe animation and insert the ribbon into each frame

resave as a new animation

I changed the ribbon to .gif and the ribbon flashes in front of the rotating globe.
I wanted to be steady and the globe to rotate behind it

if done correctly it shouldn't... it sounds like you didn't put the ribbon in all the frames

what program are you using?

can you post it so we can have a look?

you need to make the ribbon transparent and add it to each of the globe frames ... not... inbetween the globe frames

Hi again

I use an older version of AnimationShop3 from Jacs software which has unfortunately been bought by Corel

I still think it is as good as it gets for animation work...

I would guess you could do the transparency in your animator...
Open the ribbon by itself as a one frame animation then look for replace color or add transparency in the toolbar menu...

there are other ways to do it but with my program it takes about two seconds... I suspect once you find the right tool location it will simple as well

I'll see what I can do... it's been a while since I worked with animations

making the whole thing transparent is a little trickier because the globe has lots of the white as the background

open your original and delete the ribbon frames... make sure you have a copy of the ribbon to work with... it should then look like this.... then open the ribbon as a new animation and add it on top of the globe frames rather than in between

then it should look like the second image

I installed Animation Shop 3 too.
I followed your instructions but how can I center the ribbon exactly on the rotating globe?

Thank you very much !!!
It looks perfect ! Can you move the end of the ribbon outside the globe so that it will appear as it is inside the ribbon?

open the ribbon animation and make it 8 frames... right click on the single frame then right click and select duplicate frame... do that until you have 8 frames...

now open the globe animation

now click the last frame of the ribbon then click edit select all then edit copy now click the globe animation to make it active and click the last frame in it and select all then right click on the globe animation and click paste into selected frame...use the move tool to move it around ...

typing kind of quick as I'm canning tomatos along with trying to help...
