help organizing photos
hello hope someone can help me.
I have just started photographing weddings for a living and always use 2 cameras. when I come to putting the pics on my laptop (vista) the pics are obviously out of order of events. I put them in order select all rename ie. K+J (1) , hit enter and the computer just rearranges them into a random order again. Please some1 help me!!

Rename all photos from Camera 1, Rename all photos from Camera 2. Put them all into another folder, View by time taken then rename them again

Doesn't matter

You can still change that to view by time taken which will put them in chronological order

Sorry i dont think i was clear enough with my post. When im shooting a wedding i will take some photos during the day that i would like to be used as starting shots of the day. eg i may photograph the bride then go in to the village where they are getting married and take some shots there. the village shots are the shots that i would like at the top of the file. also thrown into the mix is the fact that i may have taken all those shots on two cameras at slightly different times. Sorry if im being a little confusing i confuse myself alot lol

When you rename the photos you want to show first, give them a name that is alphabetically an numerically lower than the rest.

If I understand correctly .. This is how I'd do it ..
With the folder in the Details View ..
You can choose which columns to show ..
And choose to show the Camera Model and Date taken.

Then you can sort the columns by Date Taken or Camera Model.

Then .. With the folder sorted by Date/Time Taken ...
I'd select a group of pictures .. and COPY them to individual folders ..
Like .. Rehearsal, Wedding or Reception.
Then you can do some batch renaming ... Photo repairs .. etc ...
(I would suggest .. Always keep a copy of the originals)

I have a friend who started Photographing weddings.
It didn't take him long to quit doing this ... He got tired of dealing with the Mothers
Good luck
