Color quality issues when printing photos
I am trying to print photogrpahs from my Canon Pixma MP160 printer and the quality is very bad. Things that are white in the pictures are printing out with a black/gray shading to them. The pictures are of apples for a school project, and what was a nice white apple is coming out looking like a moldy apple because of the black spots on them. Is there an adjsutment I can make to correct this?

What program are you printing from?

In most programs if you go File > Print, you will get a box with a “Preferences” box you can select.

Go to the Maintenance tab and print a Nozzle Check. Make sure the color bands are pure. If they aren’t do a cleaning.

On the Main page select your paper type, set high quality, check Auto for color and make sure Grayscale is not checked.

On the Effects page make sure “Simulate Illustration”, “Monochrome Effects”, and “Vivid Photo” are NOT checked. You could try “Image Optimizer” or “Photo Optimizer” one at a time.

Those are the choices on my Canon iP4300. They have been the same on several Canon printers I have had.

If all the settings are right and it still prints badly go to the Profiles tab and try selecting the Default settings.

Welcome to TSG.

Are you printing them with a color command, B & W or greyscale? I would start by checking that in printer preferences. Set it to color if in isn't there already.
