Stop HP Photo Essentials from opening!!!!
Help!
Every time I insert an SD card HP Photo Essentials keeps opening, and also a error message about scanning my card. I have stopped all auto plays, they are all marked "take no action".
I use Photoshop, and want Bridge to open, not HP PE! I have tried uninstalling HPPE but it is more problems than with it installed. Keeps removing me from what I'm doing in PS and gives me all kinds of error messages. So I reinstalled it, because it's less crap to click out of than with it uninstalled.
But this is craziness, why do I have to put up with it?
I have a new compaq pc with Windows Vista, and an HP all in one printer (scanner/printer/fax/copier).
How do i get rid of this thing? Help!

There's no HPPE program listed to change when I do that. There's only a few Windows programs listed.

I would think the HP program would have to be active to detect media and overcome the auto-play settings. You should be able to disable it in startups. Start > Run and type msconfig. Go to the startup tab and uncheck anything that might be HPPE. If you can’t recognize it you could look it up in the list here: http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.php

I would guess HPPE was installed before Photoshop and Photoshop linked to HPPE DLLs rather than install duplicate copies. The uninstall applet is supposed to check for that, but they sometimes foul up. You might also uninstall Photoshop and reinstall it after uninstalling HPPE.
