Red face Download photo error
My PC is an HP dx 2200, with WINDOWS XP 2000.

My wife downloaded fotos from her canon digital camera. The photo icons (all 97 ) appear on the Opening Screen of the PC whenever I start the PC.

I have tried to CUT, and DELETE via a right click of the mouse. Each time I do this the system replaces the DELETED photo Icon with a COPY photo ICon.

Please walk me through what I must do to remove all these ICONS from my start up screen.

Thank you

What happens if you right click on one photo icon? You don't get a drop down menu that includes the "DELETE" option?

Have you tried selecting all the items and holding shift down while pressing the delete key ?

You could also drag/drop them one at a time in the Recycle bin.

Sometimes, when I try to delete or move a bunch of files at once (selecting them via the CTRL key) XP gets confused and copies them. Try one at a time. If it works. You will eventually win.

Still cannot remove the Canon downloaded Foto Icons from DESKTOP screen
I received several suggestions to my first post.

I have tried to right click on the ICON then attempted to "CUT" and "DELETE". The foto ICON disappeared when I then clicked on YES delete.

But the 'system' replaced the deleted icon with a COPY-1 or COPY-2, etc. SO, my Desk Top is still jammed full of foto icons, COPY's 1 thru 4.

Then I tried the last suggestion which was to Right click and then drag to the RECYCLE BIN. This seemed to work. And, I then opened the RECYCLE bin and EMPTYED it after every 12 icons.

HOWEVER, when I shut the PC down and then restated it my DESK TOP screen is now full of COPY's 4 and 5, etc.

It seems that there is some goofy backup thing activated so that whenever I delete a foto icon from the DESK TOP screen it replaces it with a COPY.

Again, any Ideas as to how to permenently remove these foto icons from my DESK TOP screen???????

Thanks
