Unhappy Help in a hurry please
I just bought a new flat screen monitor and when I open Hp photo imaging software the screen goes black and reopens with the resolution all distorted and with weird colors. It is almost like when you open in the safe mode but really not the same..I have contacted HP but they tell me they can not help me because my computer and monitor are not Hp.....The monitor is a Hanns.G HW191D..If there is some way for me to get someone to help me by connecting to my computer I would be eternally grateful as I am in the middle of a project with photos and the person for whom I am doing the work is getting very impatient. Can you help please?

Sounds like it might be running in compatibility mode...

Assuming XP or Vista...

Right click the icon for HP photo imaging, Select properties, choose the "compatability" tab.

What do you see? Is it set to run in compatability mode? If so, uncheck that box.
Also, make sure the boxes "Run in 256 colors," "Run in 640x480 resolution," and "Disable Visual Themes" are unchecked. (these options assume XP, there are some differences for vista...
Pretty much, just make sure all the boxes are unchecked and press "Ok."

After you open the software and the resolution changes, can you minimize the software, go into your display properties, and change the resolution back?

If you can, then just keep the HP software open until your project finishes, then try an uninstall/reinstall of your video card driver and of the HP software.

If you can't, then see if you video card has any new drivers out for it (log on to the video card manufacturer's website and search for it, then find the newest driver-only file and download it). Also, check in the preferences/options/etc for the HP software and see if anything weird is checked, like "Run in maximum resolution compatibility mode" or something like that...I don't have that software so I can't say exactly what it might be, but there might be a setting that needs to be enabled/disabled to get it to display properly with your new monitor, especially if the new monitor has a higher resolution than your old one.
