YES
Did you put all of them in My Docs ???
Just search for *.jp*g ... or whatever format they were in .. wherever you saved them.

If all of them were in My Docs .. You can just Copy > Paste the whole folder to your external.

Hi,
Many thanks for your quick reply.
Unfortunately, over the years, I have been saving my image files all over my C: drive, that's why I wanted to do a search of the complete drive and copy them into one folder on my external drive.
I had actually done as you suggested for searching, can I just drag them to a new location?

In the search panel .. You can select the files ..
then Copy > Paste (or Drag > Drop) from there.

CTRL+A will select all of them.

The problem will be that you will find a lot of Images that are not what you put in...
and are images used by the system and programs...
(Depending on what folder or partition you were searching in)

I'd suggest to copy them first .. then go thu the copies in the external .. and delete what you don't want.

Be sure to look for all the picture formats you may have used.

Are you going to organize a little better from now on ..

Something else to be aware of-if you "named" your pictures then you will have several different pictures named "dog" or "baby" or "sister" and such. If you copy all those to one folder the latest will overwright the rest. If you left your pictures numbered-then good for you-fewer problems unless you have both original and edited ones with the same name. Look your searched list over and rename the files that will cause duplicates before you copy them.

Again thanks for your help.
For some reason I thought I was only copying the paths to my external disc, while the image file remained on the c: drive.
To prove it works I will copy some odd images over and delete the originals.

That's not a good way to test. You could easily lose your files. You need to copy and paste the files using either CTRL+C and CTRL+V or by right-clicking and selecting Copy and the right-clicking the destination and selecting Paste.

A good test would be to take the disk to another computer and open them, but do not delete the originals until you verify the copies can be opened.
