Lightbulb Canon A1000is not recognized by XP Pro ??
I need smarter--than-me folks' help here, please.
I put in a system for a customer whose old machine needed killin'. Replaced with a Compaq DC510 running Win XP Pro SP3. System runs great. But the customer has a "all in one" type multi-function printer and a Logitech vidcam, headset, etc for Skype, and a Canon A1000is Camera. Logitech cam works fine, printer was a pain in the francis but got it working. Problem is that Canon Powershot is not recognized by Win XP if the printer is plugged in [USB]. If I unplug the printer and then plug camera in I can get it working, but I really need all these things workable without conflicts.

Is this a USB driver problem? Anyone have some debug or fix suggestions?

thanx mucho

Spend $20 and install a card reader. Then spend 5 minutes teaching the person how to use it. bada bing... bada boom.

This is probably a USB management problem, as you said. Have you tried installing the newest drivers for the motherboard? I've read online that some motherboards that are quite old (ie: came out before XP had SP1), installing XP SP2, SP3, Vista, or Windows 7 can create problems with ports, and most motherboard manufacturer's have fixed the problems with updates (either firmware or software).
