Image repair/colorization advice.
What would be the best way to go about getting this picture repaired and colorized? It's of my Grandmother when she was young. She wants to send out 8X10's of it to all her grandchildren before she passes.

There is another area in TECHGUY that specializes in this specific task
http://forums.techguy.org/photo-albu...kshop-161.html
Look back through some of the earlier pictures these guys fixed and you will be amazed. I am not sure how you move a question to there-but I am sure some advise will be forethcoming quickly.

Usually Noyb or Heewee would reply to your questions about fixing the photo.

But like Knotbored said there is another section "Photo Album" you could submit your question regarding the photo.

Not much to work with ... ~600dpi isn't much for enlarging.
Can you scan this at a higher res .. Maybe 300dpi, full color ?? .. and don't compress the scan.

I'll PM you my Email Address if you need a quick way to get it to me.
This will be a file too large to attach here.

Sorry .. Been busy and didn't see this one earlier.

A quick pass while waiting on a better scan.
This will be very pixelated at a 8X10 print ...
and I don't think you want to try colorizing it .. It might start looking fake.
Maybe some else is better at colorizing than I am.

I knew you would show up, sooner or latter Noyb.

Nice job with the quick fix of the photo.

Can you tell me what steps you did to fix the photo.

I hope we didn't lose the originator of this thread, haven't seen any comments back from him or recent posts by him anywhere else.
Noyb- that is an amazing improvement to that picture.

I think that keeping it as an old brown black and white would be good.

Maybe a PM would grab my attention.

I copies patches of grass to new layers … Made a Grass mat …
And used parts of the grass mat to cover the holes.
Blended the Patches .. using a soft eraser .. or the Clone tool.

The rest was done using the Clone tool .. or the Healing Brush.

I have it scanned in at 4800dpi, I just couldn't possibly post that here, as it's over 20 megs. I also have a half size version of it. As for the colorization, I think it looks better without as well, but that's not my choice, this is all at my dying grandmother's request.

4800 DPI is overkill ... 600 DPI would be OK .. (Assuming the photo is about a 4x6)
I'll PM you my Email address ... I'll hold ~10MB
