Solved: how do I transfer pictures/video from cell phone to computer
I don't know if this is the right forum but I thought I'd start here.

I have a Motorola Entice W766.

I currently have pictures and video I took with the phone located in the phone's internal memory.

When I click on the mobile phone icon in vista, the device is listed as "V CAST Moblile Phone-Internal Memory". I can see the music files I uploaded from my computer to my phone via usb cable using vcast/rhapsody. But there are no picture or video files listed even though I know they are there because I can view them on my phone.

I did set all files and folders to not hidden using vista.

So, how in the heck do I find the files? And then, how do I transfer them to my pc?

Any help appreciated.

Try navigating to the pictures on your phone, do they show up on the PC now.

Some phones require software to do what you want.

Use this link to determine if your phone can use Mortorolla Phone tools, I checked, it can.

It is not free though, can be purchased here

Info on the program

There are no warranties as stated above (ie this software may damage your phone).
Yikes!

Only works with CDMA phones

How to transfer pics/photos from mororola W766 to pc without phone tools
So I got on the phone with both Motorola and Verizon. Here is what I found out.

Motorola W766 only works with phone tools ver 5.2.1d. But the only version available is 5.1. So I would have to buy 5.1 ($50), then upgrade at mororola site to 5.2.1d.

I don't want to spend $50 at this time since I only need tools for pic/video transfer. So below is a workaround. When the 5.1 version comes down in price (5.0 is now only $20 at amazon), I'll probably spring for the tools.

So here is the workaround that I am choosing to use.

A) How to Transfer Pics/Videos From Phone To Verizon Web Site

1) access pics/videos on phone menue
2) choose one pic/video (you can only transfer one at a time)
3) choose options
4) choose send
5) choose to online album
6) pic/video will be transfered to your online album at your verizon
account
7) each pic/video download is considered a "message", so I'm signing up
for 240 messages for $5 a month (otherwise cost is 25 cents
a message)

B) How to Transfer Pics/Videos From Verzion Web Site to your PC

1) log into your verizon account
2) choose my services
3) choose my phone
4) page down and choose send pic/video
5) choose my media
6) right click mouse on pic/video in album media box (large box)
7) choose save picture as-(windows box appears with location pic/video
will be transfered to, you can change destination if you wish)
8) choose save
9) pic/video will now be on your pc

I hope this is helpful for others in my situation.

I just send them to my E-mail address as a picture message. It may not be the most efficient way, but it does work.

That certainly is easier than the way I came up with, I think I'll adopt it.
