uTwainPhotoExe.exe
I recently purchased a Digital Photo Converter from Hammacher Schlemmer and I'm having an issue retrieving photos from the scanner. I get this error message:

CRSmPhoto SCanner: uTwainPhotoExe.exe - Application Error: The instruction at''0x100117b'' reference memory at ''0x00fa20d4''. The memory could not be read.

I can see the photo in the window behind the message, but can't do anything with it. I have unistalled this program twice and still receive this error when I try to retrieve a photo from the scanner.
I have tried to find another source for the uTwainPhotoExe.exe app but no success. What next?

Is this scanner made by VuPoint?
Do you have USB 2.0? What make or specs of your computer? Amount of memory?
Try plugging into different USB port, preferrably one in the back. Unplug all other USB devices.

You might try Start > Control Panel > Scanners and Cameras. If your scanner is listed you can click on it and use the Windows scanner driver. The Windows driver won’t have all the features of the supplied driver so you will still want to work with moper to get it running.

Running a HP Pavilion 061 desktop with the Intel Pentium D 820 2800 MHz processor, 1536 MB memory and USB's. I tried the option that slipe gave me and was able to capture the picture, however I have to go through the default wizard every time I put in a new photo. The PhotoImpression 6 software will still not get the photo on it's own. Something is wrong with the uTwainPhotoExe.exe file that I need to replace. Thanks for the input and the quick response.

slipe, your option works however I have to run the default scanner/camera wizard each time I put in a new picture. I see if a new software install will fix it.

Thanks to Slipes suggestion, you know that the scanner works. Photo Impressions seems to be the problem.
In the Acquire window, does it properly identify your scanner?

Also, you could try reinstalling with all other programs closed, especially your anti virus.
