the washer will run until it gets to the rinse cycle. once there the cold water only trickles out and the rinse cycle never begins. i can fill it up from the start then set to spin and it works. i looked at the intake and the filters are clean and there are no kinks in the hoses. no idea why the cold doesnt work in the rinse cycle.

Will the washer fill in the wash cycle on "cold" setting? If not, you may need a new fill valve (where the hoses connect). If the cold wash works then there must be a bad circuit (solid state) or jumper (manual dial type) in the timer. Hope for the fill valve, as it's lots cheaper. Always check for loose or disconnected wires at the parts in question after disconnecting power. A bare connector spade and a dangling wire are likely meant to go together and a simple push of a wire could save you a service call.
