Updating to RAM highend RAM on an old Mobo
EDIT* Sorry, the thread name is wrong - subject change*

My PC is in dire need of some new RAM. My motherboard currently is WinFast K7NCR18G. The relevant specs for the question are:

Platform processors
Nvidia nForce2-G (nForce2 IGP + nForce2 MCP)

CPU/SDRAM/PCI clock
Frequency range: 200 to 400MHz (DDR)

Main Memory
Supports 3, 184 -pin DIMM sockets for DDR -SDRAM module
Support up to 3GB of memory
Support up to DDR 400 memory
128 bit DualDDR Memory Architecture (2 pieces memory required)

Main Memory Supports 3 184 -pin DIMM sockets for DDR -SDRAM module (PC2100, PC2700, PC3200)

(full specs here http://www.leadtek.com/motherboards/...cr18g/k7ncr18g .htm).

Im looking @ getting this RAM, but im not 100% sure its going to work @ the motherboard, it is quite dated now afterall and i've never used this high a spec RAM with it.

Corsair TWINX2048-3200PT (2x1GB) 2GB Platinum Dual Channel Pair

Product Description

The TWINX2048-3200C2PT is a pair of 1024 MByte DDR SDRAM DIMMs designed for extreme speed are some
of the fastest 1 GByte modules available. TWINX matched memory pairs are specifically designed for motherboards
using chipsets with dual memory channels. This part delivers outstanding performance at high clock speeds. It has
been tested extensively in a variety of motherboards commonly used in gaming rigs. This memory has been verified
to operate at 200 MHz (DDR400) at aggressive latencies of 2-3-3-6. This module is also available as a single
module.

# 2048 Megabytes of memory
# Two matched CMX1024-3200C2PT
modules
# Dual channel testing environment
# 200MHz Canterwood based test setup
# Tested and packaged in pairs
# Packaged together immediately
following system test
# Benchmarked using both Athlon and
Pentium test platforms
# Integrated aluminum heat spreader
for improved thermal performance
# Lifetime warranty

My main concerns are that it says its 3200 (DDR400), but it says '(200 MHz at 3-4-4-8)' and nothing about 400mhz. It also its dual channel. my motherboard mentions '128 bit DualDDR Memory Architecture', is that the same thing. Any advice that can be given would be a great help.

ps, sorry - im good @ using computers, but limited knowledge on building em . I thought it was best to double check that its right, rather than waist £160 . and sorry for the long winded post.

That ram should work fine in that board..

I would recommend looking around the CPU socket area for any bulging capacitors on that board.. I have the same model in a build, and it has bulging capacitors about to die on it..

Corsair TWINX2048-3200PT (2x1GB) 2GB Platinum Dual Channel Pair

That looks like a high end ram pair. Do you really need that? Are you into OC'ing?
If you're not over clocking, then I sugegst getting a value series RAM from Crosair. It'll cost you ~50$/stick.
