Question I've hit somewhat of a brick wall in building my first p.c.
I just orderd seven great new parts from newegg.com to build my first ever p.c. Everything was going good untill I found that the X-Navigator case that I got came with no manual! I've mannaged to figure out everything motherboard related due to the manual from my asus motherboard. The problem im having is with the molex powered fans. I've gatherd from various sources that they should be linked together. Doing this however always leaves me with one cord with nowhere to go! Thakfully the cord is labeled " Output 0.3a 4 fan max 1.2a" if thats any help to you. It is also a 4 prong female with 2 prongs missing. Im supposing this hooks to a 4 prong male molex from the psu but the way I currently have it wired leaves me with no availible male hookups! Im not actually sure what this is even for, but im guessing it is for the fan speed because the knob on the front that I believe is for the fan speed doesn't work. If anyone can help me with this I would be greatfull!

Sounds like you need a molex Y splitter. http://www.svc.com/4pinpowsupmo.html

You should be able to find one at a local mom and pop store.

Also.......
I do not have a cpu yet, but i've powered the computer up to test the led lights, the power and reset buttons, and the cd drive. Everything works but the cd drive " No light and it wont eject!" It is plugged in properly to a 4 pin molex, and the ide cable goes to the primary ide slot because my hard drive is a sata 2. Is this normal? Do I need the cpu to get power to my cd drive just to eject it? Or is my power supply just bad? I tried two different cd drives and both seem to get no power at all!

unplug the cable from the back of the cdrom, then power on the machine. If the CDrom powers up and opens and closes, then it sounds like a jumpering problem. Check the jumper on the cdrom, set it for cable select, then replug the IDE cable into the back. When you power up again, immediately enter the bios and run the auto-detect option for your drive. If the cd-rom doesn't show up, it may have something wrong with the drive.

Don't move any jumpers or plug/unplug any cables with the power on!

Figured out fans, but....
Hey I fugured the fans out and when I unplugged the ide cable from the cd player it opened like you thought it might. I would love to use the bios if I can, but is this possible without a cpu? I have everything else like ram, video card, and a hard drive, but I won't be getting my proccesor for another week. Id like to use the bios but I also don't want to do any damage to the motherboard. I doubt it would harm anything, but I know to little about motherboards to take a risk without knowing from someone else who has tried it.

Sorry, I didn't even notice you don't have a cpu on the board yet. I'd really suggest taking it all back apart and putting it back in the antistatic bags until you have one. It's better to have the motherboard outside of the case when you install the cpu, thermal paste (you did get some, didn't you) , and heatsink.

You can't get into the bios as of yet, because the bios freezes when it senses a cpu error. In fact, you really can't do anything yet.

Thanks for your help but I have one more question
Im willing to pay up to 400 dollars for a good cpu and I need to know what the best type of cpu might be. I plan to use this primarily for gaming but also for burning cd's and using high speed internet. I've heard that the amd 64fx chip outperforms the dual core by a small fraction in the area of gaming due to the fact that many games only see one core. I also hear that the difference is only marginal and is rarely noticed. What I need to know is if this proccessor is compatible with all older games? Are there any games that fail to work all together with this proccessor? I don't want compatibility issues, but im willing to accept a 5% drop in performance if I get all the great benifets of excellent multitasking ability!
