I love AMD and all, but I don't think thats the root of your problems.

If you have the money and want to put in serious upgrades, definitly go for the 939, you won't be sorry.

On the other hand 384MB RAM is about in the middle of minimum and reccomended.
Try buying some more RAM, I assume you use DDR, I hope its not RAMBUS at least.

If its DDR, you can buy a nice gig kit, if it fixes your problems, good, if not you have the RAM for your 939 system.

Running SP1... How long was it since your last re-install? Over time Windows becomes bogged down and slower - especially on an older machine like yours.

How is a P4 2 GHz an old machine? You would probably be fine with more memory, a faster hard drive and a better PSU. If you are going from a P4 to an AMD you are going to have to chnage motherboards and reinstall your OS.

I didn't say it was old, I said it was "older" as in not cutting edge or within the last 12-24months. Not that there is anything wrong with his machine either. I was just discussing it in regards to running SP1 and the chances of it being bogged down.
