Can you fill in my blanks?
Okay so I am putting a new pc together and here is my half finished idea for it. Can you help me to fill in blanks with your suggestions??

Mobo - was thinking Asus P5WD2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131547
or this Intel board http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813121286

for PROCESSOR was thinking either Pentium D 820 or Pentium D 920 -

For Power supply looking at Enermax Whisper PS http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103512

Memory = 2 gb Corsiar PC2-5300 DDR2 ram (2 sticks 1 gb each)

Hard drive - a SATA HD, maybe 100 - 120 GB, 7200rpm, ....any brand name suggestions?

Question, for the cd/dvd drive, what TYPE am i looking for? as in, what type of connections?

Video card, maybe Power color radeaon X300SE PCI express card with 256 mb....decent? or no?

Does this look okay or do I have any conflicting hardware that won't work together? Or should not go together?

Any other ideas???

Thanks

My input...
Scratch the motherboard and CPU, go for a AMD socket 939 CPU and maybe a nice ATI board.

Motherboard, I would go with the ASUS due to price point. They are the same chipset so the performance should be similar.

CPU, I would go with the 920 since both of them should be in around the same price. Also, the 920 has more L2 cache and helps in performance in some applications.

HD, try to find a SATA II model. The 955 chipset supports SATA II. You might want to look at a capacity that is no less than 160GB. I only say this because the price difference per GB decreases by a good margin after 160GB.

DVD drive, I would look for a DVD burner since they are about 10-20 more than a standard DVD-rom. As for connection, it is still mostly IDE. Both motherboards you listed have at least one IDE port so you can still use IDE devices.

Video card, if you play games, you may want to look for something more. Otherwise, the x300 will be find for standard Windows usage and older games.

Everything else seems to be fine and should work well together.
