I received a couple of helpful reply posts to my "Which RAID sys is best for dvd creation," thanks guys.
I got to thinking (sometimes a dangerous thing), ...in the various RAID systems for the home PC that one can build, just how critical are things like system disk read-write speeds when copying digital video input from a source like a Sony Handycam, Dig 8, which is what I have. I guess I could be over-thinking this
But this thought thread also got me to thinking about how this relates to other apps as well.
For instance, does a RAID 1 system load up the processor, the sys bus, or the memory by having to write to 2 disks? Or is my thinking a little off here. The main reason I am asking this is because I understand that video processing and dvd creation are very demanding applications that use up a lot of system resources.
Would RAID 0 offer any benefits for speed and read-write reliability in such apps? -and are RAIDs 0 and 5 comparable in benchmark considerations?
I haven't really much more info on these topics other than what I can find through basic search engines, which stears me towards very basic results.
