How much would you spend on..?
Yay, guys!

I did this on a cellphone forum, and I'm getting very curious results!

Here's the deal: I don't know about you guys, but I tend to love buying things for a good deal. The problem is, I don't really know what a good deal is, you know? I'm not a very experienced shopper, even though I'm a girl, and so I don't know how to gauge prices in a way that a lot of guru shoppers can. So, I'm thinking this thread might help me and some others who might be in the same predicament.

So, what do we do?

Present a product. Any product. There's bound to be someone who's used it or who has wanted to. If you want, explain why you want/need it. Maybe even present prices that you've found for it. Ask the rest of the forum, "how much would you pay for this?" and we'll respond with .. well, our responses. "I think that's too expensive," or "I wouldn't pay more than 20 bucks for that.." and why. Easy enough, right?

Sweet, I'll start it off.

So I'm thinking about getting a Motorola V360. I don't really need an mp3 player on my phone, I think that's a little bit overkill, but the rest of it looks great, and it's one of the only phones that work with Tmobile and my little USB cable that I got for my old motorola. I'm looking around for it on Ebay, and apparently they're at least 100$. Is that way too much?

Are you currently under contract to T-Mobile? If not, I'd sign up for a new plan. Amazon.com has the V360 for $-50.01 after rebate, which means that you can get the phone and pay the $35 activation fee and still come out $15 ahead. There's also no shipping and a free Bluetooth headset.

Word, I'm willing to just wait 'til the contract is up for renewal and see if I can get all of those perks then, but that's if I want to stay at TMobile. I still haven't figured out which of the major American carriers are the best for what I want (reception, good international rates, free nights and weekends, good phones - not expensive at all, especially when it comes to having multiple lines), but that's a whole other discussion, I suppose.

Thanks for the input.

I don't have the option to switch to a new plan right now. I've got one. If I honestly were to switch plans, I'd probably go to Cingular.
