About AGP cards and slots
I was wondering, will an AGP 8x work in a 1.5 volt (which is AGP 4x) slot if it is 8x/4x? I have been told that even though they are backwards compatable, an 8x will eventually fry (unsure if they mean't 8x\4x) because they are set to take a lower voltage or something along those lines.

No, AGP 8x/4x slots should change its voltages when a 4x card is inserted, either way you should be fine.
