Help regarding wiring problem?
Hi,
Having moved into a house which has been rewired using plastic conduits on the wall surfaces, I would like to sink the wiring into the walls. Is it possible to try this myself, or does it need to be carried out by an electrician? Does anyone have any advice on the best way to do this. Thanks, Chris

Hi,
First where are you located. If in the US what state. If you Live in New York You Can not do your own electrical work without a permit or contracter.New york is VERY fussy about this. Why do you want to sink it anyway. Its alot of work.If you don't know what your getting into Then IMO call a pro.Electrical is not something you want to mess with if you do not feel confendent working with it.

I echo the above, in many countries it is illegal for non-licenced people to work on fixed wiring.

There are implications with insurance as well.

In order to "sink" the wiring into the wall would need some indication of what the wall is made of, as we could also be looking at structural issues on top of the electrical issues. At the very least it would effectively require a complete rewire, as conduit would have to be disassembled in may cases, and it is usually glued with solvent.
