Question TV Scrambles
Hi have have an older RCA Home theater system, GE DVD player and RCA tv. Here's my problem when watching A dvd it seems every time there is a bright flash and a lot of bass like in an explosion the picture scrambles on the tv. I'm wondering what might be causing this.

Assuming the TV is an older CRT one and not a plasma or LCD, it would point me to power supply issues.

The actions you speak of would we causing the higher power drain, particularly on the EHT, which also controls the horizontal deflection, any disturbance on that rail would mean that synch could be lost, and a "scrambled" picture would result.

You would need to be careful in the above case re repair, as to it being economic?

Or a very loud noise could cause vibration in a CRT monitor sufficient to disturb the picture (similar to what is seen if you tap hard on the side of a CRT monitor).
