Computer Overhaul Help
I'm not sure where I was supposed to post this so I hope it's correct.
Background:
I have an Emachines T1100- it is a POS. Previously I bought a new case with a 350W PS, put a Creative Soundblaster SE soundcard in, and put in a DVD RW.

Materials I have:
PC Chips AM2 Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
Elixir DDR2-667 256 MB RAM
SuSe Linux 10.2 (Self burned ISO) DVD

What I want to accomplish:
I'd like to remove my previous motherboard/processor/memory, put in the new stuff I have while keeping the hard drive, and install Linux OS. I figure I need to use the program Killdisk but I am unsure how to partition and format my hard drive from there. It will have 2 maybe 3 partitions 1 for OS and applications the other for multimedia/projects.

The order I figured on (Am I wrong? Please Correct me): I placed question marks in front of the steps I am not knowledgeable on- I am a computer novice basically
?1. Killdisk to wipe drive
?2. Fdisk to partition
?3. Somehow format?
4. Install new hardware- Following Motherboard manufacturer procedure
?5. Go into BIOS and make sure everything peachy dorey
6. Install SuSe Linux 10.2
?7. Setup Linksys Router with Linux
?8. Use ALSA to setup sound card

Please help by correcting me, explaining some of the procedure, and posting links to material I can read that will help in this project.

I would think that the best thing for you to do would be to go to www.google.com and just type in the box what you want to know, one at a time of course, and you will be presented with plenty of links to click on for each subject you type in ....

Killdisk is an app that deletes files when the PC is rebooted. Useful for removing some malware/viruses that are otherwise difficult to remove.

If you are looking to use the same harddrive in your new PC, with a different OS on it, then using the Linux install to delete and reformat/repartition the drive should be enough.

If you are selling the drive or giving it away, then you can use a program that will wipe the disk by writing alternating patterns over the drive, such as Diskwipe.
