Angry possums
I got a possum hanging around and getting into the recycle bucket cause of food containers like peanut butter and cat food cans. I also store some trash in the recyle bucket and then I will put it in the trash can so hes getting into it and now that he knows that theres food hes hanging around. had some pizza boxes outside but he couldn't get into them. So what are my options If I call animal controll do they put traps out and do I have to pay for the traps.

We have Possums here, I assume that is what you mean?

They are feral, unprotected and shot/trapped/poisoned here as they spread TB, but here it is the landowners responsibility to remove them.

In Australia, the "ring tailed Possum" is protected and it is an offence to destroy one, so I have no answer as I do not know if they are feral or protected in your locality.

I do hope you mean "Possum", as you might like to look at the urbal dictionary for your spelling...it has another meaning altogether.

Looks like they are unprotected in your state.

That would mean it is most likely your problem, to DIY or pay, based on our system?

Unless you live in a rural un-incorporated area I'd call animal control, you might even be able to pick a trap up yourself at the police station. just make sure whatever trap is put out that its the largest they have "possums" can get quite big

yeah and end up in jail We can't hunt or shoot them. I can kill it with a shovel and toss it in the trash without them knowing but its aganst the law to fire a gun within city limits
