Planning to Mod my computer
Hey guys, I have decided to mod my computer, but I have not purchased anything yet because I am afraid I will purchase the wrong parts. I guess I'm going to have to start with a see through pc case. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks

Before you rush into a see-through case, do you live in a fringe area for TV or Radio reception?

These cases do not meet FCC requirements (no RF shieding) and the emitted RF interference can be nasty in low signal areas, affecting you and close neighbors.

Why buy a case at all? Just get a few plastic transparent cake boxes, silicone sealant, and a good razor blade knife, and use those..
Much cheaper, and actually cooler looking.

Or just get some tubing from the wires, and hang each piece on a hook and hang it from the ceiling like a mobile. Trace the board, drives, etc with el-wire.

Or make yourself a wooden and paper case (printed onion-skin paper for the sides on a wooden frame.

If your going to mod it, why go the normal route. You want something that gets noticed and looks good right?

Get creative with it. I got a Jelly PC that's enclosed (submerged) in candle jell, one in a modified three-ring binder, and another in a wooden art-supply box.

@ gotrootdude, that's a hardcore case! <- jell + 3 ring binder. How... creative.

Hm... if you want a see through case.. that must equal shiny lights! So get your cold cathode lights!

If you need "high gain" (= large array) TV area in the locality (i.e. you are way out in the country), your radio reception (AM or FM) is lousy, then you are "fringe area".

Example:
A few years ago I noticed quite a lot of radio interference on favorite stations, and a neighbor was worse so they laid a complaint with the "Radio Inspectors" division.

As the RI's knew me they rang and asked me to check things out in the locality. The problem was that a youngster in the neighbors household was running the PC with the side cover off.

This is why new PC's do not usually appear from reputable makers in "see through" cases, as technically they are illegal in many countries as they emit interference (perspex does not block it like metal or mesh does).

But in "High Signal" areas, the interference may not be noticed.

do you actually mean a see-through case, as in completely acrylic or just a window panel?
