Wink Air Condictioning Question @_@
which air-co control panel option saves me more energy and offers more efficient cooling at the same time?

-high cool/cooling level 5

I suspect that would depend on the specific A/C system's characteristics as well as the space to be cooled and it's thermal characteristics. The most efficient cooling is when the A/C is sized to run most of the time, 70-80%.

I honestly think the OP is talking about a window shaker John. It is hard to adjust a window unit to run "exactly" as it should really.

I would use "high cool" as the compressor would run much less because it is moving more air on high.

There are variables though. At which setting does the delta T differ the most? If you are getting a 15 degree drop on quiet cool and a 20 degree drop on high cool, then use high cool and vice versa. (You are looking for around 20 degrees for best efficiency.)

A/C is fickle. The best way to work an air conditioner is to find your comfort level, set it and forget it other than changing filters, cleaning, and other small maintenance.

I love it when I walk up on a unit that has been allowed to get filthy. I have an easy fix and I will make my money the easy way. If it has been clogged up long enough I have hell to pay. Compressor job.

I left residential and went commercial about a year ago. I work on 30 ton units these days. We have to use an engine hoist to change a compressor. "TRUTH"

Actually, you can purchase a Windows unit sized correctly for the room, and still maintain the efficiency I mentioned.

It is not best to run the compressor for short periods of time, because the humidity bounces all over the place, and the comfort level attained is much less. I prefer the A/C sized to the load.

also if its run to short you can ruin the compressor bearings due to lack of oil

I just had a new central conditioner installed. it runs all the time but dose not cool the house. It's a 3.5 ton unit the replaces a 3.5 ton unit that worked very well until it broke down after 20 years. I don't think the air is cold enough coming out of the vents. Can anyone tell me what the temperture should be coming out of the vents.

Typically, you should have about a 20 degree drop across the coil. Obviously, the hotter the air going in, the hotter it'll be coming out.
