Probably not a lot. You can clone HDD to a larger. I suspect the unit has ME OS. You may be able to increase RAM to 256 or 512MB. Would be a good machine to install Linux Ubuntu for a new experience. I've refurbed several machine in this category..........installed Ubuntu and gave them away.

EDIT: Hmmm.................answer before question....................feeling like The Great Karnac. LOL

It has windows xp on it, but am looking into maybe putting ubuntu on it(have never used linux so am looking into it)

Would it be ok to clone the drive as I think that the xp is an oem version.

Also am looking into maybe connected this harddrive to my tv and using it for more media based applications ie music, movies etc

I would be surprised if it had an OEM XP from the gitgo. At any rate, you should be able to clone HDD to another (WD, Maxtor/Seagate all have free utilities to do this). Frankly, it wouldn't make much of an intertainment/media center addition IMHO. Doubt the video card (suspect onboard) isn't good enough, same for sound, max RAM probably 512MB. If you have enough empty PCI slots may be able to improve on sound & video, but then may over tax power supply, which if an OEM machine is probably 250 Watt +/-. Still best to use as a Linux learner IMO.

thanks wino I think ill do some minor upgrades on this and give it to me daughter, have got another thread going in hardware about my exsisting pc I think I may use this more for media based applications, the specs are higher than the rm pc
Im looking into various cable to link the better pc to the tv(crt tv till we get lcd tv). Ive had a very quick look at the back of the tower and can see a video out output, would I be able to link it to the tv via that.
And sorry for being a pain in the but

recieved it today and it boooted up fine went to windows no probs at all stuck a keyboard to it,
that worked fine, then connected a mouse and it didnt work, then treid another two and it didnt work, have purchased a usb mouse as there is 2 usb slots. Im just wondering whether the reason that the mouse didnt work was due to either missing drivers, loose connection. This looks like it has had a clean install of win xp.

PS/2 mouse shouldn't need a "driver" as such. Probably a broken PS/2 mouse port. New USB optical mouse should cost you about $10 tho.
