i have a 96 Oldsmobile cutlass ceira SL V6 3.1 the A/C keeps cutting out. it will blow cold air then it will blow warm air the after a minute back to cold. what is causing this. took it to pepboys they recharged the system and did a leak test nothing found. the tech could not recreate the problem. any ideas.

Either low on coolant, or the filter is blocked. Did they check that?

don't know. said he recharged the system and did a leak test but nothing was found. the tech could not re-create the problem but its still there. must only show up while driving

I had an issue like that with an older car, and it turned out to be the tiny filter embedded in the line that was partially blocked. Replacing that solved the issue. If the car has been in service for some time, the dryer probably should be replaced as well. The issue with mine was that it was sensing overpressure at the compressor and it would cycle the compressor off until the pressure dropped. Does the compressor clutch actually disengage when you get the warm air? There is also some wiring that may be causing the false sensing of an issue and killing the compressor.

im not sure if its engaged/disengaged. hope come winter the heat doesn't cut out as well

The heat and the A/C are totally different, the only thing they share is the blower motor.
