Computer Building Problem
hey tech guys,
I need some help. The computer I'm putting together does nothing when I turn it on. Not even a signal goes to the screen. I'm thinking it's my SATA 3.0 hd, but if it is how do I load the SATA drivers into my bios when i can't even get there??

Here's my setup:
Asus m2v-mx w/ the amd dual core 4200+
Raidmax RX-630A
Kingston Pc-4200 DDR2 (2 x 1 gb sticks)
http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?p=HD-W1600JS&c=pw
Plextor Optical Drive (set as master and connected directly to the primary IDE plug)
Plextor DVD-RW and NEC dvd burner (latter::master ; former:: slave - but both unplugged from its secondary IDE designated plug)

Would any of these be the source? Could the SATA hard drive be the problem?

Thanks,
Den (hope ya'll can help)

P.S. Also if this helps my control panel LED's both light up and the buttons don't respond
I've put in the windows XP cd to see if it works and still nothing happens

You probably know this. Start with only memory and the monitor. You should get the first few lines of the boot screen and at least pass the memory test. Then you know the M/B is getting power, processor works, etc, and can add the other stuff.

Well I just tried that and I'm still not even getting anything on the computer screen. Screen's LED just turns orange for inactive but powered. M/B's LED is green. The company I ordered my M/B from supposedly "tested" the mobo combo before shipping it out, so I'm guessing it's the memory. Is there anyway I could test it?

Without good memory the comp would receive power but just show no signs of booting, right?
I only ask b/c then I would have a better idea of where the problem is. If that's not the case, how far would the bootup get to?

yea, cpu fan works, LED is powered, and the power button at least turns it on.

I'm starting to think it's the m/b. I just bought new ram suggested by asus themselves and it's the same story. But if ya'll have any other ideas i'd still be open to try them

hey everyone, it's startin to work now. I'm up to xp installation. Turns out my 4 pin, 12v connector wasn't entirely secured in it's m/b plug. Thanks for the help. If i don't post anything more on this thread then everything was a breeze.
