Try a video capture device, either a card you can install inside the PC, or something with a USB connection. I've seen the cards as cheap as 20 bucks with some having TV tuner capabilities, and the USB devices starting around $40.

This assumes the security camera has a regular NTSC video output going into either an RCA plug or S-video plug, i.e, it plugs into a TV monitor or VCR. Also assumes your PC can support the device.

The answer to that question really depends on what you mean by “security camera” and what you want your camera to do and record.

Forty dollars for a low end card or four hundred dollars for an entry level professional grade card could both be a waste of your money depending on your expectations.
