carb kit question
I have a vintage craftsman gas edger. the engine is running poorly and over heating meaning smoke coming from the blower houseing and it seams to run fast no matter how I adjust the carb. Is it worth putting a carb kit on here or is it best to replace the engine. its a tecumseh 2 HP though sears website says its a lauson

I've been able to get numerous older Craftsman parts from Sears...The last time I dealt with them it was easy to get a carb rebuild kit....Especially the older diaphragm type, and it cost $20.00 and I got it within a week...(Normally the check valves wear out and cause the leaks.)

As far as the smoking, it may not be related. Change the oil and retorque the head bolts.
Might get a few more miles...

what I mean is its overheating and smokeing like a car engine does when it overheats. + you can hear the metal expanding and contracting. replaced the old fueline as it was nothing but a metal pipe with rubber insulation that was mostly gone.the engine is a 2hp Tecumseh/lauson model LAV30-30282E SERIAL 6053 00291 and its a sears 9 inch edger trimmer model 536.85625
