What do you think I should do with my old computer?
I have a old Windows Me computer. I used KillDisk and there's no OS on this old computer. I love using Live Cd's and I've fallen in Love with Damn Small Linux but I'm unsure if I should install DSL to the hard rive because I want to be able to play a lot of games and I also want to be able to capture and edit my videos. I don't really know if Linux is good for gaming and video editing. What do you think I should do with this old computer?

Rshake20,

If that's the only computer you have to use, I'd suggest you go ahead and put a Windows OS (preferably not Windows ME) so you can do what you'd like to do. Linux is a great operating system, but it falls short when it comes to mainstream gaming and capturing/editing videos...there really isn't a whole lot out there...yet. With that said, you might want to look into getting a "new" computer (if possible) and then turning that computer into your "playtoy" linux machine. Just a thought...

Hope that helps.

I'm just going to use live CD's on my old computer. The computer that I'm using right now is Windows XP Pro and I'm happy with that so I guess I'll be staying with Windows and Linux.

Give it to me What Distributions of Linux have you tried? I have tried dsl, but i like Ubuntu better. I think that would be a great idea to use it for linux as then you won't have to worry about keeping Windows safe as you install and try different Linuxes. There are plenty out there If you want to see screen shots go here: http://www.thecodingstudio.com/opens...hots/index.php

Fedora 8 and Ubuntu are great. I prefer KDE over GNOME.
