For right now the Dual is best for most apps. In the future it may be the quad. It is a tough call but one you and only you can make. What do you use the system for?

Games- Dual

Encoding, MAYA, Photoshop CS3 - Quad.

For the prices, i would go for the quad

also, the quad is very overclockable i hear, meaning even better performance
but the same with the duo

also, it is more future proof as more and more apps are being designed to be able to utilise all 4 cores

Which new car do you prefer?
Ford or Chevy?

The AMD vs Intel battle rages on,
even as I type.

I prefer AMD, but in certain cases, Intel would be better
(considering the x86 platform).

With MAC or Sparc or Amiga, etc... all bets are off,
and you have to go with the flow.

At least, with IBM, you get a choice.
My vote is for AMD.

As for Ford vs Chevy (GM), I prefer Mopar!

I wrecked my first car in 1976 (January 13, at 3:58 PM).
It was a 1962 Newport. SAD LOSS.

Going from a Newport to an Enzo is quite a leap, no?
No matter; I can't afford it.

ALL JOKING ASIDE:

Consider your budget when upgrading / rebuilding.
Overkill is waste, because we run on a two to three year upgrade
cycle, anyway. Get the horsepower you NEED, and not what you
LUST AFTER.

Oh, no. Now I did it. I ended a sentence with a preposition.
Good it not is: A sentence, to end a preposition with.

Ah, but Win2k Datacenter Server can utilize 32 cores/Cpu's.

If you build it, they will come!
