Solved: RAID configuration question
We're trying to get an answer to a question and thought perhaps someone here could help. If you are setting up a fault-tollerant server and you want a terrabyte of usable storage, what RAID configurations would be the best to use and how many drives of what size would you use in those configurations? Thats all, interested in any answers you may have. Thanks.

Well, I'd probably go for RAID-5 with five 250gig drives. The array capacity will be the capacity of four of the five drives.

ferrija1, we're just trying to get some suggestions for answers really. For this question just assume budget isn't an issue.

I would do the same as John, or four 500GB drives in RAID 1 for full redundancy.

I like RAID-5 because it has better writing speeds.

Yep, just another idea besides RAID 5.
