computer build/sell
Hi I'm new to the forums and was just wondering somethings.

Basically I just built a new computer for about 120 dollars, most of the parts were leftover from a previous build of mine. I was thinking about selling it on ebay for a profit and building a new one but wasnt sure if I would be able to turn a profit with it because it is kinda minimum in certain areas.

the specifications of the computer are as follows.

CPU- The CPU is a single core AMD athlon 3800+ 2.2 GhZ socket AM2
MOBO- PCChips A13G+ micro ATX, chipset is NVIDIA GeForce 6100. direct to link to it is http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...880&CatId=2320
RAM- 2x1gb DDR2 PC6400 800mhz OCz performance RAM
PSU- 350 watt
CD/DVD- IDE dvd Burner, as well as a SATA DVD RW/dl
HDD- Seagate 250gb -
GPU- PNY 7300 GT
Monitor- Envision 19" widescreen LCD
Keyboar/mouse combo- Wireless Keyboard and mouse
Speakers- 2.1 speakers
Software- Windows XP SP2, Microsoft office 2007

I was thinking about listing it for around 250 dollars on ebay. just wondering if you think I could get more or if It would be better to invest in a new CPU(dual core) GPU (8600 gt xxx edition) and PSU (400 watt) then sell it for round 600$

Maybe. You might have better success selling the parts individually.

$250 is fair considering the monitor would normally retail for around $200. Shipping would be the killer though - once that's added on, it would probably cost the buyer less to just go get a new machine.

Still, doesn't hurt you to list it.. set a minimum reserve and see if there are any takers, and if not, you're not out anything for it.

I would not spend another penny on the system. As previously mentioned, selling it as parts will probably fare better. For instance, I'm sure you should be able to get at least $100 for the monitor, then consider the computer. If you have a licensed copy of Office 2007, that's worth some money right there. Obviously, if this is an illegal copy, it's not worth anything.
