Modded Computer
Some of you may already have seen the computer that is cooled entirely with Soy bean oil. After seeing that me and some of my friends decided to do something along the same lines. We plan on building a computer cooled entirely with motor oil, non sythetic of sourse. We were thinking of using car parts and other stuff and building the compter inside of a small block engine or something and having the ignition be the power switch. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on parts to use.

I'd think you'd want to use a pretty thin oil, as you do need to circulate it around. I'd stick with an "organic" oil though, rather than something petroleum based, as the latter is really, really nasty to clean should you need to change out any parts in the future... and it's just not as environmentally friendly. You also want to make sure it's electrically non-conductive, and I don't know if motor oil will fit the bill as well.

also thank you for the advice soundy it is a very good point about cleaning. as for the circulation we are going to build a circulating system that rapidly sends the oil through a radiator of some sort, that was one of our biggest concerns.

oo well.. the most most frequent ways i have seen is mineral oil or canola oil... should have clarified myself.
i have never seen soy oil...but it probably could be done.

Yeah, I'd think you'd mostly just want to stick with something that will clean off relatively easily, and something that's really low-viscosity that will circulate easily.
