Solved: car stuck in defrost
I just replaced the blower in my 91 olds cutlass ciera. now the vent is stuck on defrost. i can move the vent selector from vent to bi-level to anything and the air still blows out of the window vents. any ideas. the only thing i removed was the whole air-cleaner assembly so i would have better access installing the blower.

Make sure all the vacuum lines are reconnected as many
of those systems are vacuum activated.
Start the car to provide vacuum and see if it switches.
