It would be pretty hard for you to upgrade your processor if you only know the basics. Why do you want a new processor, anyway? If your computer is slow, then there could be easier fixes than upgrading your processor.

Then you have no need for a "modern" processor, unless you want to play games with higher processor requirements than you have. If you purchase a new processor with no need for it and no experience with installing processors, you could break something inside your computer.

You should be able to play all those with your 3.06 GHz processor. Have you bought them and tried them yet?

I think you'd be beter served by looking at a better video board! You have sufficient processor power for most games, not so sure about the graphics. Faster memory would be another upgrade that would probably do as much or more than the processor upgrade.
