Solved: What household products can clean in-ground swimming pool?
Without using harsh chemicals if I don't have to -
It is a rock & concrete pool. The water just turned a little green after bad weather. Somehow I don't think pool shock is going to do it.

Good quality shock will do the job, you may have to double the dose, wait 2 days and shock it again. Run the circulation pump for several days.

I would not recommend household products.

Super shocking it should do it. It sounds like algea bloom - possibly from a recent warm up in the weather. But, instead of guessing I highly suggest that you take a water sample by your local pool supplier and let them run a quick analysis to see what chemicals you need. It'll take them about five minutes. That's far easier and than guessing and wasting money on unneeded chemicals and possibly upsetting the water balance, not to mention wasting time.

Shocking the water won't upset the water's balance long term, so if you already have some shock you could safely give it a try. But a water analysis will tell you exactly what's going on and exactly what is needed to fix it. For the analysis you'll need to know how many gallons the pool holds, or the pool's size including depth. Also, you'll need to know what type, brand, method of water balancing you are currently using.

I tried the two days of super shock and that did the job. Thank you very much!

hello
I know this is solved (for now) because it will probably happen again.... here in florida we have "pinch a penny" pool supplys, where you live there is a pool supply company. see if they have "stop yellow" here is a link http://store.pinchapenny.com/product...00446?action=& just to show you what it looks like... the little 6oz package treats about 10.000 gallons, with some chlorine clears the water in a couple hours, the sfuffs amazing. and cheap also, about $3 for a 6oz pack.

hope this helps next time. have a nice summer
