ChkDsk, Clean all and Unconditional Formatting Hey I have some questions. I really want to restore my HDD to as it would of been when I bought it, I know I can't unless I used DBAN/Write 0's to everything. But I have some questions.
I want to fully restore my HDD, I'll be booting my computer off a USB with windows 7 on it so I'll have acess to the command prompt.
What order should I perform these tasks like first, second third? (I dont want to use 3rd party programs like dban etc) I want to do all of them.
Format - unconditional ( should i do this or chkdsk first to fix hdd errors, I should chkdsk first right?)
Chkdsk (im not sure of the switches on this one, could someone tell me the switch that does the full works, I don't care about how long things will take)
Clean all with diskpart, (is that the same as an unconditional format?)
Do I have to create partitions to format my disk drive, can't I just format "disk 0" for instance without having to make any volumes etc |
