Flash Drive corrupts information
I have a 16 gb flash drive (generic brand, a little cheapy) that doesn't seem to retain data correctly. I can copy one folder of files and that's it. For example, I have two sets of .AVI files. They go in different folders. Here's an ASCII attempt of a file tree:

Flash Drive
|
|_MyVideoFiles
-Set1
-Set2

So there it is. The files are arranged like that on the HDD, also. I copy the MyVideoFiles folder onto the root of the flash drive, but only the files in Set1 work properly. I also can't add any more files to it.

To try again, I have to format the flash drive. Then it'll copy Set1 again. I've tried the built-in windows utility (using XP x64) and an HP tool. Same results. I've tried using the little tools to fix the flash drive (repairing corrupted sectors and such) to no avail.

Is there a way to fix this?

There are a lot of fake USB flash drives around on the net, especially from China and/or ebay sellers. Try doing a full format of the drive using NTFS; if this fails part of the way through it's probably a smaller capacity drive that has been modified to report a false capacity.
