PDA Question
My wife is as simple as they come when it comes to comps/gadgets/electronics, etc. Years ago I bought her a Palm Zire. I forget which model it was (black & white), but she finally got used to it, preferring it over "Post-It" notes. LOL

Well, the Zire crapped out and I would like to replace it with something better but not too complicated. All she does with it is shopping lists and contacts. She doesn't do cell phones. Anyone have an idea on what electronic gadget/gizmo to take a look at? I have searched around and everything is high-tech.

All suggestions appreciated!

I don't know of any brand new simple device like the old Palm Zire. The fact is that new gadgets have more features. Your best bet is probably picking up a used device.

Hi,

If you haven't already gotten one, I like messing with old computers, and I had a handheld a cassiopeia pv plus 400 is just for making lists and writing notes, nothing really big, I used it for shopping and todo lists. In fact the only reason I'm upgrading to a Palm Zire is i need something to read ebooks with, and gad that Kindle and others like it are kinda expensive. Heres a link, they have a few on Amazon.

I bought a Palm TX for my wife two Christmas' ago. She ended up not using it because the Palm Software conflicted with another application that she needed to use at work.

She has been asking me to sell it for a while now. If you want it, it is basically in brand new condition. We might have turned it on a dozen times or so.

If she is used to the Palm OS, I would not swap that on her. I had a TX for a few years and still like the OS. I lament its passing. I now use a Palm Treo 680 SmartPhone (with Palm OS) and I gave my TX to my son who still uses it.

The only reason I went over to the Treo was that it was a full-function Palm PDA as well as a full-function SmartPhone.

You might even find a new TX somewhere, on e-bay maybe; but, if you're in the market for one, I would recommend Squashman's as he's been around here a long time and is highly respected here.

If you do find a new one somewhere, be sure to ask if it comes with a full factory warranty. A lot of out-of-production new devices like that are what is known as "gray market" import and their warranties are good only in the country of origin.
